What do we do?
The goal of the Governing Body is to empower Brackla Primary School in supporting and challenging all pupils to achieve in all aspects of life, by providing a creative and engaging learning experience in a stimulating environment.
During the year, governors meet regularly to discuss aspects of the curriculum, monitor pupils’ progress and to help make decisions regarding the school premises, finances, personnel and health and safety.
Who is on the governing body?
The governing body is made up of:
- Local Authority Governors
- Parent/carer Governors
- The Headteacher
- Staff Governors
- Community Governors
What are the governors responsible for?
The purpose of having a governing Body is to:
- Help the school to set high standards by planning for the school's future and setting targets for school improvement;
- Keep the pressure up on school improvement;
- Be a critical friend to the school, offering support and advice;
- Help the school respond to the needs of families and the community;
- Make the school accountable to the public for what it does;
- Work with the school on planning, developing policies and keeping the school under review;
- Exercise its responsibilities and powers in partnership with the headteacher and staff.
